CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – November 3, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges globally, announces today that the Chair of the Open-IX Data Center Standards Committee, Gabe Cole, and President and Chair of the Canadian Network Operators Consortium (CNOC) Board, Bill Sandiford, will keynote the Datacenter Dynamics Converged Toronto Conference, taking place November 6, 2014 at the Eaton Chelsea in Toronto, Canada.

The session will explore the emergence and progress of Open-IX, an industry-led initiative of network operators, data and content owners and distributors, and Internet-focused data center owners intended to develop standards for data center-based Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). Mr. Sandiford and Mr. Cole will also address the growing levels of association support and participation, including identifying OIX-1 and OIX-2 certified Internet Exchange and data centers, respectively, to date. Discussion points will also include the acceptance of Open-IX in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Canadian market as a whole, and why this is important to the future of Internet Exchange and data center strategy.

Open-IX is a non-profit association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception approximately one year ago.
