Board Secretary Barry Tishgart and Board Member-Elect Josh Snowhorn to Discuss Open-IX and Its Role in Improving Physical Fiber Connections
CAMBRIDGE, MA, USA – December 5, 2014 – The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, announces that Secretary of the Board Barry Tishgart and Board member-elect Josh Snowhorn will speak at DatacenterDynamics Converged Dallas, to be held December 9, 2014 at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel.
Mr. Tishgart and Mr. Snowhorn will present “Open-IX: Managing the Network Edge to Improve the Cost and Reliability of Physical Fiber Connections”, taking place in Hall 1 from 2:40 PM to 3:20 PM. The session will explore the main differentiators between Internet exchanges in European and North American markets. It will also discuss the proliferation of content delivery and cloud applications, as well as the resulting need to efficiently and economically transfer traffic amongst different networks. Additionally, Mr. Tishgart and Mr. Snowhorn will describe the establishment of the Open-IX Association, which develops and promotes international standards for data center-based distributed Internet Exchange Points (IXPs).
Open-IX is a non-profit association organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet community who aim to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. Through broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has produced two Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 21 data centers and two exchanges since its inception approximately one year ago.
